A former MOT Repair Workshop had been treated by the Valuation Office as liable for rates long after it had last been used.
The owner had tried to explain to the Council that the property was redundant but to no avail.
Eventually on appeal Jones Norris Adams arranged to reduce the Rateable Value to £0, and arranged for this to be backdated to 2010. The client was pleased to receive a significant refund.

Acting for BP’s Pension Fund, Jones Norris Adams Director John Adams appeared as an Expert Witness at the Norwich County Court in respect of a lease renewal of industrial premises near Stansted Airport.
The judge preferred John’s evidence to that of the other Expert Witness awarding a figure within 5% of John’s opinion of Value and almost 80% more than the Tenant’s Surveyor’s opinion.
